Letter from Principal Kloss, Jan. 21

Dear Elsmere Families,

Happy Squirrel Appreciation Day! In the midst of all the covid-craziness, we are often looking for little things to celebrate. Thanks to our fifth grade Kindness Club, today was another special day at Elsmere as we celebrated Share your Sparkle and Kindness Day. Our sequined clothes worked magic turning classrooms into discos and putting smiles on masked faces. Please see our photos with messages of kindness and glittery greetings that were on display today. Thank you to all who contributed cards for the residents of Good Samaritan retirement community.

Outdoor Recess (Cold Weather)

I wanted to outline the parameters we use to determine whether or not we go outside for recess each day.  If it’s above 10 degrees, with the windchill, we go out. If the temperature with the wind chill is between 5 – 10 degrees we will make a determination based on if the sun is out and conditions outside. Typically, if the temperature with the wind chill is below 5 degrees we will be inside for recess. Rest assured that we do everything that we can to get the kids outside each day, even for a short time.

 i-Ready Diagnostic

Our second diagnostic window for i-Ready is still open. Please see this iReady Letter to Parents

Updated Isolation Protocols

Please see the updated protocols outlined by Superintendent Monroe. If you have any questions about the process feel free to reach out to Mrs. Isenberg or me.

Test Kit Pick Up

Elsmere families may still request a rapid covid test kit. If you are in need of a test, please contact our office (439-4996) and we can coordinate a time for you to come to school and get it. We will provide tests by request until we run out. We are not sending tests home with students but will offer before school, during school and after school options for pick up.

On behalf of the Elsmere staff, many thanks to the PTA for the delicious soup for lunch today! What a wonderful, warm treat on a chilly day.

Enjoy a delightful weekend!
