Dear Elsmere Parents,

Are you concerned about your child’s electronic usage? Then please come to the presentation “Addicted
to Electronics? Learn to manage Technology, with Real Limits and Practical Solutions” with Dr. Randy
Cale at Slingerlands Elementary School on January 29th at 6:30pm.

Rather than video games, how about a good old-fashioned board game for family fun? The Elsmere
Library will soon begin lending out board games! If you would like to donate to our collection, please
see our wish list here.

Report cards will be posted to Aspen today. (Sample  on how to access your child’s report
card in Aspen) The Parent Report Card Guide is posted on our district webpage. This
includes specific information about how to interpret the report cards. Children progress at different rates
so standards may be met in varying amounts of time, with varying amounts of teacher support.

Thank you and congratulations to our fifth grade students who presented at this week’s Board of
Education meeting, sharing some of their favorite things about Elsmere. Mae W., Julianna D., Ellie K.,
Paisley S. and Eloise S. were poised and articulate; impressing the school board members and making us
all proud.

Next Tuesday, January 28 is our Winter Concert which will be held at the Middle School. The grade 4
concert will begin at 6:30 and Grade 5 will start at 7:30. The students have been working hard to prepare
so we hope to see you there!

Wednesday, January 29 is school spirit day. Everyone is invited to wear Elsmere attire or BC colors
(orange and black). If your grade 2-5 child will be attending the field trip to SUNY Albany that day,
please remember to send in a bag lunch with no glass containers.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,
Kate Kloss
