Letter from Principal Kloss, June 10

Dear Elsmere Families,

Thank you to all for a wonderful Field Day on Friday! The weather was glorious and the smiles were abundant. This was truly a team effort and a great way to start wrapping up the year. You can enjoy and add to our photo album here.

Our Annual Art Show, also on Friday, showcased our many talented artists. Photos of some of these can be enjoyed here. If you missed the show on Friday, please feel free to stop by the school on Monday 5-6 to take a walk through our hallway gallery. Photos of the Art Show and other fun Elsmere moments can be found here.

We recognize Juneteenth on Monday, June 20, which will be a day off from school in celebration. We continuously strive at Elsmere to recognize and celebrate the diverse experiences and contributions each child brings to our community. Juneteenth is one reminder of this important endeavor. All students are invited to submit a poster, poem or video by Friday, June 17th  in recognition of Juneteenth. Click for details. Two $20 cash prizes will be awarded

The district has had many questions about school safety from families following the tragic events in Buffalo and Uvalde, Texas. I can assure you that the safety of students and staff is always at the forefront of discussions by district and building leaders. General safety information K-12 can be found here and I am always available to answer your questions. Please remember that parents also have a collective voice in matters of school safety through our PTOs and PTAs. I would encourage you to get involved in our PTA. Our school’s PTA is represented on the district’s President’s Council which meets monthly throughout the year with district leaders to discuss pressing issues and develop strategies and solutions around those issues.

Take care and enjoy a delightful weekend.

Kate Kloss,

Elsmere principal
