Letter from Principal Kloss, Mar. 12

Filed in Elsmere by on March 12, 2021

Dear Elsmere Families,

It is hard to believe that at this time last year we were shuttering our building and moving to online learning for “just two weeks” until the coronavirus passed. What a twelve-month span it has been for us all!  If we made a list of all the things we have learned and the many ways we’ve grown, we could write a tome.

So now it is spring again, and we are cautiously optimistic about positive changes in the future. A good majority of our school staff is now fully vaccinated, and we are starting to be able to loosen up a little on some restrictions. It is delightful, and we thank all of you for your continued support, patience and vigilance as we work together to eradicate the virus.

Speaking of thank yous, the Elsmere staff and I are very grateful for some special treats this week.

First, to the Perfect Blend Cafe and Bakery for the delicious individual loaves of Irish Soda Bread. Lucky the Leprechaun definitely approved!

Thanks also to the Delmar Progress Club for the cute teddy bears. The community support does make our year more “bearable”.

And hats off to the fantastic PTA for smoothies and treats from Bliss. Definitely a refreshing treat on the half day as we planned, re-assessed and organized for the spring.

Our March Madness Sweet 16 was narrowed down to eight winning book titles that will move on to the next round as voted on by the students. Stay tuned for results! Everyone is encouraged to keep reading at home and at school. To all who are participating in Read for Ronald, thank you and good luck!

A picture frame came home today for a snapshot or drawing of your pet (or one you would like to  have). Please send these back to school for our fun new bulletin board. We are also collecting items for local animal shelters, so feel free to send in your old towels, new or gently used pet supplies and pet food from

Monday, March 15 to Friday, March 26.

Our March Wacky Wednesday next week is Wearing-O-the-Green. Everyone is invited to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in style by decking out in green. Again, Lucky would approve.

Please check out our photos of some fun times this week and have a delightful weekend!
