Letter from Principal Kloss, May 6

Dear Elsmere Families,

THANK YOU! While we all enjoy a little recognition, you really went over the top – the breakfast, notes, drawings, flowers and lunch made us all feel so appreciated by our wonderful Elsmere community. I speak for the Elsmere staff in saying, you really made our week!

Looking for a vibrant Mother’s Day gift or something lovely for your garden? You can do this AND support our 5th grade by making a purchase at Verstandig’s now until May 22. Click here for details. Our fifth graders enjoy a number of special programs including Nature on Wheels – an outdoor team building and nature exploration event occurring next Thursday for our oldest grade.

Some other highlights this week which you can see photos of here:

  • We enjoyed a fabulous presentation by Tay Fisher who entertained us while sharing important messages about respect and kindness. Thank you to Erin Reilly and the PTA for arranging this.
  • Our oldest and youngest students had a visit with an educational specialist from the Wilton Wildlife Preserve who taught about topics from ph levels to turtles. It is great to be able to have specialists share their time and talents with students once again.

Next week, Wednesday will be our district’s meet the BOE candidates virtual forum 6:30-8:00. Please mark your calendars and look for information about how to tune in to learn more about the individuals who would like to represent you on our BC school Board of Education.

We will soon begin creating class lists for 2022-23. While we cannot honor teacher requests (and all of our teachers are great!) , if there is something important you would like us to consider when making these assignments, please contact me by May 27.

Enjoy a delightful weekend. Happy Mother’s Day to all!

Sincerely,

Kate Kloss, mother of

Stefan (21) Elizabeth (18) and Julia (17)
