Letter from Interim Principal Baker, May 18

Dear Elsmere Families,

Thank you to all who participated in the school budget vote this week. The budget overwhelmingly passed and two board of education members were selected.

As the warm weather arrives, please be reminded of the Bethlehem Central dress code intended to help students develop appropriate clothing choices for the setting. Spaghetti straps, belly shirts and other revealing clothing are discouraged in the school setting. For your child’s safety, only appropriate shoes should be worn for running and playing on the playground. Sandals may slip off and we want to prevent accidents if possible.

This year’s Nature’s Classroom was another great experience for our 5th graders! Thanks to Mr. Valenti, Mrs. Buffaline, and Mrs. Bellamy for their planning and dedication to this wonderful program.

This week we kicked off our positive recognition program in the cafeteria. The students learned about our district core values of being kind, respectful and responsible at a special assembly on Monday (ask them about the videos!). During the week, students had an opportunity to earn tickets for displaying the expected behaviors at lunch and recess. Names were then drawn at the end of the week and those students selected got to participate in a special “reward” (choose from: front of line; noon-aide for the day; sit where you want).

Have a nice weekend!

Sincerely,

Andy Baker
