Letter from Principal Bonacquist, Jan. 27

Filed in Archive by on January 27, 2017

Dear Families,

Today was the kick-off assembly where we revealed the title of the book for our One School, One Book project.  The assembly started with a ‘gong’ and the arrival of a Chinese dragon. The kids had a great time trying to guess the clues given to them!  This year we will be reading Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. Remember, you will be reading the book at home each night with your child(ren). The teachers will spend time in class with follow up activities. We sent home a copy of the book (donated by the PTO – thank you!!) with the oldest child in each family. You also received a bookmark with the reading calendar on it. There are a few other items in the bag and as you read the book you will understand the meaning.

We have created a blog where you can find information and keep up to date on all our activities.  This can be found on our webpage – One School, One Book or click here. We encourage you to ‘Join Our Discussion’ and add comments to the blog as you read the story with your children. If you have a picture of you reading with your children and would like to submit it for our blog, please send it to us! – send pictures to Connie Clarkson  at .  You can view the assembly from this morning.  You will also see a link to a video created for Slingerlands by the author, Grace Lin.   We are thrilled to announce that Grace Lin will be visiting Slingerlands later in the year!

Thank you to Maura Mottolese, Shane Morrissey and Karen Geduldig for all the work they did putting the book bags together for today!!

We are very excited about reading Where the Mountain Meets the Moon!!  Stay tuned for more details!!

Have a great weekend and Happy Reading!

Warmly, Mrs. Bonacquist
