Parent Presentation – Digitally Distracted: Parenting in the Age of Technology

Monday, March 18th 6:30 pm – HS Auditorium

Don’t miss parenting expert Tom Kersting who will offer a timely presentation about Parenting in the Digital Age on Monday, March 18. Over the past few years, we have noticed a trend developing with children entering kindergarten whose skills are different than in previous cohorts coming to school for the first time. Some of the things we have observed include decreased language, communication, and problem-solving skills, decreased stamina throughout the day, and greater distractibility. A group of faculty and staff at Slingerlands have teamed up to take a closer look how to address these issues and we have found several publications that are helping us to understand this phenomenon. In addition to the upcoming presentation by Mr. Kertsing, we thought some of these resources might be helpful to parents as well:

  • Glow Kids by Nicholas Kardaras
  • UnSelfie by Michele Borba
  • Disconnected by Tom Kersting

We are very excited that the District is bringing Tom Kersting to speak about Parenting in the Digital Age  We hope to see all of you there!
