Letter from Principal Bonacquist, Mar. 24

Dear Families,

We are kicking off our first Community Outreach project this week with a fundraiser to collect money towards building a well so children in Chad, Africa can get clean water to drink. Several children submitted a proposal to assist children in Africa by building a well.  As I am sure you have heard by now, we had a wonderful assembly on Tuesday where the girls explained the need for clean water in Chad, Africa.

We have started our Spring Food Drive to benefit children in the Bethlehem community.  Our 3rd graders are taking the lead with this important initiative.  The food drive continues through Friday, March 31st. We are asking each grade level to be responsible for collecting a specific category of food.

Kindergarten – Boxes of Cereal, boxes of instant Oatmeal Packets

1st Grade – Canned Goods – fruit, vegetables (that kids like)

2nd Grade – Pasta, Macaroni Dinners, Macaroni and Cheese

3rd Grade – Peanut Butter, Jelly, juice boxes

4th Grade – Snacks – Granola bars, microwave popcorn, pudding cups, graham crackers, individual Goldfish packs

5th Grade – Canned Goods – tuna, soup, and dinners like stew or chili

Upcoming NYS Testing:  Our children in grades 3-5 will participate in the New York State tests. All children are required to take the tests and we ask that you avoid making appointments during the tests. Teachers typically start testing at about 9:30.
