Filed in Slingerlands by on March 2, 2018

Dear Families,

This week we will celebrate the 48th year of our 5th grade musical.  This year the children will be performing Wish Upon a Star.  Once again, the playwright and director is Mr. Betor. The performances are on March 8th and 9th starting at 7pm.  Tickets will be sold at the door for $3.00.  Doors open at 6:15. Please join us for an exciting evening!

4th and 5th Grade Orchestra Parents

The District Band Festival is March 15th at 6:00pm at the High School.  The 4th and 5th grade strings students will participate in 2 rehearsals as follows:

  • March 14th – 1:00-2:00, students rehearse at BCHS
  • March 15th – 9:45-10:25, students rehearse at BCHS

Slingerlands will be doing a Spring Food drive during the month of March.  The food that is collected is used for our Backpack Program and to assist families in our community who might need assistance. There are boxes for each classroom. Suggested donations are as follows:

  • Kindergarten: Boxes of cereal (individual servings), boxes of individual packets of oatmeal or individual servings
  • Grade 1: Fruit cups, ramen noodles, granola bars, graham crackers in individual servings
  • Grade 2: Spaghetti-Os, canned macaroni dinners, Mac & Cheese (individual, microwavable packets)
  • Grade 3: Peanut butter and jelly (plastic containers), 100% juice boxes
  • Grade 4: Bottled water, microwave popcorn, pudding cups, individual Goldfish packets or individual cookie or cracker snack packs
  • Grade 5: Canned goods: tuna, soup, and dinners like chili and stew

School safety is my number one concern.  I want kids to be safe and to feel safe at all times.  NYS Education Department mandates safety drills.  We will have a lockdown drill on Thursday, March 8th.  Future drills will not be announced ahead of time, but an SNN will come to you following the drill.

Have a great weekend!
