Fun Run

Although we had to cancel the Forever Young Fun Run, we are looking at dates to reschedule in the spring.  I wanted to thank the BOU for donating the money so we could by running bibs and pins for the runners! We really appreciate the support with this!

Monster Mash

The Monster Mash was a huge success!  It was great to see so many children and their families join us. The children looked fabulous in their  creative and and fun costumes!! Check out all the great pictures on our webpage – https://www.facebook.com/pg/BethlehemSchools/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1514673245225964  A special thank you Kari Shekhter, Miten Negandhi, and Bethany Bortis  for organizing the event – they did a wonderful job!! We have amazing events for our children because of the many volunteers who help out – thanks to all of you!!

Volunteers Needed for American Education Week!

We need volunteers to sit at the sign-in table in the front lobby during American Education Week. Please consider signing up for a slot to help us. It’s an easy gig!

American Education Week

Slingerlands will be celebrating American Education Week During the week of November 5-9.  We all know from research and personal experience that children are successful when the entire school community works together.  It is our goal during this week to bring together parents, teachers, school staff members and students to continue to make Slingerlands a place full of learning and growing. By now, your child’s teacher should have sent home a schedule for their classroom visit.

Recycling store plastic bags – Pam Held, one of our librarians, has set up a box in the lobby to collect plastic store bags.  She will be sending these to be recycled. Please bring in your bags to drop off in the lobby!

One of our noon-aide, Lucy Monroe, has decided to retire from her position here at Slingerlands.  Mrs. Monroe loved the children she worked with and they loved her right back! Every year Mrs Monroe ran a jump rope competition with the 2nd graders that we promise to continue in her honor!

Last call for Bike Helmets

We will continue our collection of gently used youth bicycle helmets through next Thursday.  If you have a helmet that has been outgrown and you’ve replaced it with a new one, please consider donating the old one! Helmets should be in good condition, not broken, and can be placed in the donation bins at Slingerlands Elementary. Gently used adult helmets can also be donated. The helmets will be delivered to Troy Bike Rescue and will be shared with local families in need of helmets, to support safe bicycling practices.

Girls On the Run is coming to Slingerlands this Spring!

Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident.  Over the course of 10 weeks, the curriculum based program uses running as a way  to help girls in grades 3-5 learn more about who they are and what’s important to them.  Stay tuned for more details!

Have  a great weekend!

Warmly,
Heidi
