Letter from Principal Bonacquist, Nov. 21

Filed in Slingerlands by on November 21, 2017

Dear Families.

Thank you for joining us last week for American Education Week!  I appreciate all the positive comments about our school, the teachers, and our program.  We are really proud of what we do! Thanks to all the volunteers who helped at our ‘sign in table.’

The Book Fair was a tremendous success!  The profit this year is $3,294 – WOW!!  Our Book Fair profit will be used by Slingerlands PTO to support the numerous events and programs the kids have come to love at our school.  Thank you to Nicole Heckman, Kerry Pilek and all the volunteers for all the work they did to make this such a great event!

With your help, we donated almost $500 worth of books to our charity of choice, Grassroot Givers/Albany Book Project.

Toys for Tots

We will begin our toy collection on November 27th and it will run through December 15th.  There is a collection bin in the lobby, by the cafeteria and at the entrance to the Primary Wing.  Please consider donated a new, unwrapped toy for this important outreach project.

Holiday Caring and Sharing Program

Our 4th grade is coordinating the food drive that supports local families that need assistance at this time of the year. We will be collecting items through December 12th. To find out what items we are collecting you can click here

At this Thanksgiving season, I would like to take a moment to express how grateful I am to be associated with the families, faculty and staff at Slingerlands Elementary School.  As an administrator, I am thankful for students who cheerfully work hard to learn and show kindness to others, parents who encourage their children and support the school, and teachers and staff who are dedicated and truly care about each child.  Thank you for your help, support, understanding, and friendship.  There is no other place I would rather be.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I hope all of you enjoy the long weekend with your family!

As always, I feel honored to be your child’s principal and to work in partnership with you and our staff.

Happy Thanksgiving!

With gratitude,

Heidi Bonacquist
