As you know, I broke my foot at the end of August.  Your children have shown such kindness to me over the past few months, often stopping me with comments such as –  “I hope you feel better or How is your foot doing?” After three months, my foot is not healing correctly and I will be having surgery next week.  I will be out of work starting on December 6th and anticipate returning on the 19th. Laurel Jones, who is the Administrator for Elementary RTI and Technology, will be covering for me while I am recuperating.  Many children know her from the work she does in the classrooms. I am totally confident that the building will run smoothly in my absence.

Important Reminders:

BCSD Holiday Food Drive

  • We will be collecting food for our annual food drive from November 26-December 13. You can find the list of foods here.  The food that is collected goes to Bethlehem families in need of some support.
  • If you are in need of assistance or know someone in need please see this link for more information

Things of My Very Own Clothing Drive

Today we heard a presentation from two fifth graders – Lili Suich and Lily Kahn.  They wrote a proposal to have our school collect winter clothing to donate to Things of My Own – an organization that services needy families in Schenectady.   We are collecting winter coats, winter gloves, winter hats and scarves, clothing newborn to age 10. Items should be new or very good condition.

Toys for Tots

Once again, we will participate in collecting toys for Toys for Tots, which is sponsored by the United States Marines.  Please help out less fortunate children by donating an unwrapped toy. There are boxes in the lobby, by the cafeteria, and in the primary wing. The toy drive will run from November 19 – December 14th.

Warmly,

Heidi
