Letter from Principal Bonacquist, Sept. 15

Filed in Slingerlands by on September 15, 2017

Dear Families,

What a great turnout for Open House last night – it was great to see everyone as we return for a new school year. I heard many wonderful compliments for the teachers and school. Thank you so much for joining us!

Several children have approached me to see if we could do something to help those people affected by Hurricanes Irma and Harvey.  We will be running a coin drive from September 18th through September 29th.  There will be a ‘well’ in the lobby where children can donate their change.  The money will go to the Red Cross.

We are “WELL” but families affected by Hurricanes Irma and Harvey need our Help!

Tools for Schools – Why register your Advantage Card?

Registering for Tools for Schools earns money for the Slingerlands Elementary School to purchase school supplies, gym and recess equipment, resources for teachers and students and much more!  This year I was able to purchase about $800 of supplies for our classrooms!  It’s free, and the earlier you register the sooner Slingerlands will begin to earn points.  Track your contribution on the bottom of your Price Chopper receipts. Betsy Danz is the parent coordinator of this project.  If you have any questions you can email her at edbdanz@gmail.com.

Slingerlands code is 15749.  Parents can register their advantage by using this link:  https://www.pricechopper.com/tools-schools

If you have not already done so, please take a few minutes to review our district policies related to technology use in our schools. There is also an important permission form all elementary parents need to sign. These forms and policies have been updated this year as the district expands its 1:1 Chromebook program, the Power of One. These polices and parent permission form is for all families K-5. Schools are collecting these signed forms.

  1. REVIEW:The policies that are in place this year related to technology include:

Printed copies of these policies are available at all school buildings.

  1. SIGN:The 2017-18 form that needs to be signed:

If you haven’t done so already, please sign the BCSD Technology User Agreement and send it in with your child.  These have been revised so we are asking that all children and adults sign the permissions so students can use technology here at school.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!

Warmly,

Heidi Bonacquist
