Letter from Principal Bonacquist, Sept. 27

Filed in Slingerlands by on September 27, 2019

Dear Families,

WOW!!! Our children did a fabulous job collecting food items for our Community Food Drive!  I would like to thank all of our families for their generosity. A special thank you to our third grade team for helping with the event. They made announcements, collected and organized food and made a graph to chart how much of each item was collected.  They did a great job!

Global Read Aloud – Books are coming home soon!!!!

Walk to School Day  -October 2

Walk/Bike to School Day is a national event, held this year on October 2nd. Join other kids throughout the county by walking or biking to school on October 2nd! Slingerlands families are encouraged to participate in this fun, healthy event that brings our school community together. Students who walk or bike to school will receive water and fruit upon arrival, as well as participate in physical fitness activities outside before the start of school. Please join us in the back of the school at 8:50 for an activity with our PE teachers. We ask that all children have a parent with them. Please email Gina Peattie with any questions (gina.peattie@ymail.comClick  here for further information.

You will be notified by 8:30 a.m. via Aspen if the event is canceled due to inclement weather.

Early Go Home Drill –Thursday,  October 3rd

New York State requires all school districts to hold an annual “Go Home Early” drill to ensure that students and staff know what to do in case an emergency requires school grounds to be cleared and students to be transported home or to another location. The Bethlehem Central School District will conduct this drill on Thursday, Oct. 3. All students will be dismissed 15 minutes early – at 3:05.  We ask that you DO NOT pick up your child from school at dismissal that day. All children should ride the bus. This is a great opportunity for all children to take the bus they are assigned in the event of an emergency situation. Click here for more detailed information.

The event will be held at the Track at the High School at 4pm.   You can meet us at the HS track at 4pm or there will be a bus to take children to the HS at the end of the day.
