Letter from Principal Heffernan, Mar. 8

Filed in Glenmont by on March 8, 2019

Dear Families,

Tonight is Lip Sync which will be at the middle school starting at 6:30!  Thank you for limiting the number of audience members to just three per family.  A huge thank you to all of our parents volunteers, especially the chairs Cara Qualia, Beth Kourt, and Andrew Kourt.  We’d also like to thank our teacher MCs for the evening, Courtney Bowen, Linda Seymour, and Lauren Ward.

All families are invited to the PTA Math & Science Night on Thursday, March 14 from 6:30-7:30pm.  We also have the March PTA meeting next Tuesday starting at 7:00, so please join us!

Here is a great parenting opportunity:  Parenting expert Tom Kersting will be hosting a technology forum on March 18 for BC parents at 6:30pm at the high school.  His talk is entitled Digitally Distracted: Parenting in the Age of Technology. Click here for more information about the speaker and the program, including free childcare.

If you are looking for summer programs for your child, check out the summer camp fair to be held at Slingerlands Elementary on Wednesday, March 13 from 6-8pm.  The fair is free and open to all. They also have a camp fair website so you can learn more about the offerings.

Thank you to the Glenmont faculty who represented us at the BOU Spelling Bee this week and to our PTA for sponsoring our team.  Team members included Courtney Bowen, Molly Fusco, Laura Hosford, Linda Seymour, and Lauren Ward.

Yearbook flyers have gone home, so be sure to order your copy if you are interested.  You can order online at: using code 11009119. Yearbooks cost $22. If you do not wish to have your child’s name and picture on the yearbook, please contact Michelle Marino at

We just placed an order for some wonderful art supplies and additional recess equipment through Price Chopper’s Tools for Schools program.  Thank you to those families who have their Advantage card registered to raise points for Glenmont School every time they shop at Price Chopper.  Our art teacher will be receiving paint markers, tempera sets, washable paints, pastels to use with all of our students, and the children will also benefit from some new recess toys.  Thank you to Hope Bigwarfe for coordinating this program through our PTA!

Have a wonderful weekend!
