Letter from Principal Heffernan, Nov. 15

Filed in Archive, Glenmont by on November 15, 2019

Dear Glenmont Families,

I am thrilled to be writing to you from the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award Ceremony in Washington, DC!  Second-grade teacher Amy Klugman and I are here to accept the award on behalf of our entire school community (see attached photo).

Yesterday we participated in the Opening Session and a variety of workshops during which we had the opportunity to hear from dynamic and inspirational speakers (Google “Erin Gruwell” of the Freedom Writers Foundation if you get the chance.  She was amazing!).

Today is the official Awards Luncheon and Presentation of Awards which will be live-streamed starting at noon.  Here’s the web address:  Please note that there are 362 schools being recognized from across the country, so it will be a bit like a graduation ceremony and we’re not told when we will be crossing the stage.  But if you happen to have a free moment, you might enjoy taking a peek to get a flavor of the event.

We are planning to share more with the children and our entire community next month once the official photos are available, so stay tuned.

Congratulations Glenmont!

Laura Heffernan, principal
