Letter from Principal Heffernan, Nov. 16

Filed in Glenmont by on November 16, 2018

Dear Families,

THANK YOU to everyone who attended the Chris Porter Scholarship Hoop Shoot & More on Wednesday evening!  We are excited to announce that we raised a total of $6102.30, all of which will go to the Chris Porter scholarship fund for graduating BCHS senior(s).  Congratulations to Hoop Shoot winners Ben F, Nick R, Ava and Ryan S, and Thomas P. Chris’ mother was present to pull the winning ticket of the 50/50 prize which belonged to the Porter family’s longtime neighbor, Sandra Bruni.  Sandra also happens to be the mother of Chris’ lifelong friend Karen Fitzgerald. What a happy coincidence! Many thanks to everyone who donated auction baskets, baked goods, and their time and energy. Special thanks go to teachers Laurie Nolan, Beth Flanagan, and Cathy Zimmermann for all of their work putting this event together.

School safety is a priority for all of us at Glenmont School.  We conduct regular drills to ensure our staff and students are prepared, working closely with members of the Bethlehem Police Department who guide us during safety meetings and participate in many of our drills.  To learn more, I encourage you to review this “Know the Drill” information recently posted on our district website.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

With Thanksgiving upon us, I would like to thank you, our Glenmont families, for all that you do.  Maybe you chaired a PTA event, volunteered in the library, came to school as a mystery reader, or worked together with your child’s teacher to support learning at home.  We have an amazing community and I am so grateful to be a part of it. Thank you.

I hope that the Thanksgiving holiday offers you the opportunity to spend time with all of your loved ones.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Laura Heffernan
