Letter from Principal Heffernan, Oct. 25

Filed in Glenmont by on October 25, 2019

Dear Families,

Our fifth graders are returning from their three-day Nature’s Classroom trip to Becket, MA! They had gorgeous weather as they engaged in hands-on classes, field experiences and more. We are grateful to the PTA for subsidizing this trip for every child who attended and providing scholarships for our families in need. Many thanks to parent chaperones who volunteered their time and attention: Kendra Bushart, Juan Zabaleta, Kim Sabella, Bret Phillips, Brian Dunican and Vince Romeo. Additional thanks to our staff who worked so hard in so many ways to make this trip possible: Ashley Bucklin, Stacie Mihok, Jess Winn, Maryellen Chardavoyne, Lauren Barrowman and Kara Saint John, as well as Jean Zaccagnino in the office. We could not have made this experience possible without everyone’s help!

The No Place for Hate Community Walk will take place on Tuesday, October 29 at 6 p.m. at Bethlehem Central High School on the track of the stadium field. This is a K-12 event designed to build unity and respect for all members of the Bethlehem Central School District community. Elementary students in grades K-5 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Gates will open at 5:45 p.m. and the walk will conclude at 7 p.m. Don’t miss this opportunity to show your support for our school community!

Tonight is the Halloween Ball at Glenmont School from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Parents, please be sure to come into the school to sign your child in at the start of the Ball and be on time for pick-up. Note that parents should only be staying if they signed up to volunteer or they contacted me because their child has health needs. Many thanks to our wonderful Chairs, Farrin Wagoner and Jennifer Freeman, as well as our planning committee members and all of the volunteers! It’s sure to be an exciting event!

Sincerely,

Laura Heffernan
