Letter from Principal Heffernan, Sept. 28

Filed in Glenmont by on September 28, 2018

Dear Families,

We hope that all of our children have had an exciting September packed with friends, fun, and lots of learning.

Next week is the district’s Farm to You Fest!  Information is being emailed home, including a “Squash Hunger” food drive and a Farmer’s Market Scavenger Hunt set for Oct. 6 from 9am-1pm at the Delmar Farmer’s Market.  Check out the beautiful display case in the front lobby! Many thanks to PTA Chair Christy Venter for coordinating this program.

School Pictures will be taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Over the next two weeks, we will also be having our wonderful ecologist George Steele here at Glenmont to work with each class for an hour.  Many thanks to our PTA for supporting this program.

September is a time when we review our school’s safety plan.  Teachers share with students what to do in certain situations in a thoughtful and age appropriate manner.  We then practice these drills as a school, including multiple evacuation (i.e. fire) drills and a couple lockdown drills.  Our close relationship with the Bethlehem Police Department allows us to invite them to some of our safety meetings, and they will even be participating in one of our drills next week. We thank them for their support and guidance.

If you have any questions we can help you with this year, please reach out to your child’s teacher or myself so we can help.  Enjoy the weekend!

Sincerely,

Laura Heffernan

Principal
