Letter from Principal Heffernan, Sept. 7

Filed in Glenmont by on September 7, 2018

Dear Families,

Welcome back!  We have had a wonderful start to the school year.  The children have been settling in, starting to learn the routines of their new classrooms, and interacting with both new and old friends.  The first day was very hot and humid, but everyone kept a cool head. Check out the BCSD District Facebook page for lots of photos from that first day.

I’m pleased to announce that we have a new Physical Therapist, Joan Martelle.  We welcome Mrs. Martelle who brings much experience to this position and who already knows many of our students from having worked with them in the past.  Welcome Mrs. Martelle!

Please join us for our first PTA Meeting of the school year on Tuesday, September 11 at 7:00.  Our PTA includes dedicated and enthusiastic parents who do so much for our school while having fun along the way.  We hope to see you then!

On Thursday, Sept. 13, we will be holding our Open House.  This is an excellent opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and hear all about the classroom routines and curriculum.  Here is the schedule:

  • 6:15-7:15 Parents of students in Grades K-2
  • 7:00-7:30 Special area teachers will be in the cafeteria or in their classrooms if you would like to meet with them. This includes the art teacher, speech teachers, special education teachers, etc.
  • 7:30-8:30 Parents of students in Grades 3-5

The 4th Grade PTA parents will be holding a 50/50 raffle that evening, so wear something lucky that night and join in!

Please remember that there is no school on Monday, September 10 due to Rosh Hashanah.  Happy New Year to our Jewish families!

Thank you for all of your support with purchasing your child’s school supplies and encouraging your child to stretch themselves as they learn and grow in so many ways this year.  If you have any questions or concerns along the way, please reach out to me by phone (518/463-1154) or email lheffernan@bethlehemschools.org.  Enjoy the weekend.
