Letter from Principal Kloss, May 31

Filed in Elsmere by on May 31, 2019

Dear Elsmere Families,

First, a belated thank you to all who voted on the school budget last week. It was also great to see so many students participating in their “civic duty” as they collaboratively selected green for Elsmere’s BC silicone bracelet.

While the school year may be winding down, the learning and fun is full steam ahead. Many thanks to all who helped the past two weeks with special events including Survivor Day, Freihofer Athlete’s visit with Melody Fairchild and Diane Nukuri, Kindergarten Camp and our Senior Assembly.  What a terrific time to be at Elsmere! If you wish to continue the fun into the weekend, kids are invited to participate, at no cost, in the Freihofer’s Kids Run on Saturday at 11:00. See more information here.

At our Senior Assembly last week, we congratulated high school seniors who attended Elsmere as elementary students. Recognizing these young adults as they begin their next big journey and hearing about how Elsmere contributed to their success, is simply inspiring. This assembly always helps us adults reflect on just how meaningful these childhood days are. Thank you for your partnership in creating days filled with, not only learning but laughter, listening and love as well.

Congratulations to our amazing 4th and 5th grade musicians and their teachers Ms. Gen Vitale, Mrs. Jody Van Voris and Ms. Allie Kosek on a wonderful Spring Concert last Thursday evening. They put on a beautiful performance! Thanks to our friends at Slingerlands for hosting us.

On Thursday, June 6 we have our annual Elsmere Art Show from 5pm-7pm here at school.  Each student will have a piece of work on display and there will be a scavenger hunt for the students to complete while you view the artwork.  Thanks to our PTA, the BCSD Art Department, Ms. Traci Fortin and Ms. Gwen Kovachik for all of their efforts organizing this for our school community.

The PTA is hoping for your help with the fantastic Community Day on June 8, 2-4. Tents and volunteers are needed. Please see how you can help here. At this point, lots more help is needed for the event to run.

Field Day is Thursday, June 20. If you are able to help at Field Day, please call the office. We can’t run this day without parent volunteers, plus – it is a lot fun! Students should wear their “Team Colors” for Field Day:

  • Kindergarten: orange
  • Grade 1: white
  • Grade 2: blue
  • Grade 3: green
  • Grade 4: red
  • Grade 5: tie dye

My new favorite quote: Children spell “love” T-I-M-E. Enjoy a wonderful weekend with your delightful children!

Sincerely,

Kate
