Letter from Principal Kloss, May 5

Filed in Elsmere by on May 5, 2017

Dear Elsmere Families,

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today, was School Lunch Hero Day and we honored our terrific Miss Sara and Mr. Paul who serve our children nutritious food, kind words and genuine smiles every day.

Next week is extra special at Elsmere with three important events:

  • Healthy Kids Week – see the flyer sent home to read about all the ways we will celebrate including Walk/Bike to School Day on Wednesday. Thank you to Katie Urban for planning!
  • Teacher Appreciation Week – PTA sent home a list of ideas of how to show our teachers some love.
  • Screen Free Week Redux –Challenge yourself to go without screens for entertainment for a whole week! Fill in the calendar sent home and receive a prize. (Nationally, Screen Free Week was actually May 1-7, but it just fits in so well with Healthy Kids Week that we are holding it again)

On Tuesday, our young Elsmere musicians will perform their Spring Concert at 7pm at the high school. They have been practicing all year for this event which promises to be a treat for concert-goers.

Wednesday is School Nurses Day. I think everyone will agree that we are so fortunate to have Mrs. Isenberg as our Elsmere nurse. Her skills, knowledge and TLC are invaluable to us all!

If you are looking for a great Mother’s Day gift, next Friday and Saturday will be the Grade 5 plant sale here at Elsmere. Stop by to buy a plant and support our fifth graders’ trip to Nature’s Classroom.

Elsmere faculty will soon be meeting to discuss student class placement for the fall. If there is anything you would like to share with me before the process begins, please contact me at kkloss@bcsd.neric.org by May 19. As always, requests for specific teachers cannot be honored.

Sincerely,

Kate Kloss
