Dear Elsmere Families,

Happy winter! We hope you enjoyed a beautiful snow day on Thursday. Thank you for remembering to label hats and mittens so they do not languish in our lost and found bin.

Congratulations to our fourth and fifth grade student musicians and their teachers Mrs. Guyon, Ms. Vitale and Mrs. VanVoris on a wonderful winter concert, which was finally held this week. It was clear that much work had gone into these terrific performances.

This week, all BC elementary teachers participated in professional development for our reading curriculum. This great program, from Columbia Teacher’s College, pairs with our writing curriculum and we have seen tremendous growth and enthusiasm from students since we began using these as guides.

Second and third graders, mark your calendars for our Pizza Pi Math and Science Night on Friday, February 17. Flyers went home earlier, but if you need another, please call the office.

Many thanks to our PTA for the juice and coffee at our Grade 2 breakfast this morning. It was fun to start the day, eating and chatting with grade level friends, parents and grandparents.

Finally, a special shout out to our often overlooked staff who help to make school safe and fun every day – our noon aides: Joan Deragon, Meghan Singh, Lisa Cronlund, Kathie Dubin, Becky Holligan, Annie Moak, and all of our classroom aides who problem solve and assist on the playground and cafeteria as well. Thank you for all you do!

Enjoy a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Kate Kloss
