Dear Elsmere Families,

Happy National Wear Red Day. We hope that this day is a reminder to all to take good care of your hearts and your health in general. Thanks to Mrs. Reed for coordinating this for Elsmere and for collecting a substantial donation for the American Heart Association.

What a busy week we had at Elsmere! A few highlights:

  • CAPER readers did a great job at our February event, which included a graphic novel pre-release. Thanks to Ben, Rowan, Finn, Liliana, Sophie, Zoey, and Andrew for reading, plus Mrs. Seder, Mrs. Greenman, and Mrs. Meyer for coordinating, including the great Super Hero crafts.
  • First graders enjoyed a visit with meteorologist Bob Kovachick from Channel 13 as a part of the weather study
  • Kindergartners learned about pedestrian and car safety from Otto the Auto
  • Fifth graders developed a better understanding of our world from a trip to see Hidden Figures
  • All K-4 students were reminded of good dental health practices from Dr. Primomo’s visit.

Welcome back to second grade teacher, Mrs. Lindsey Murphy who returned from her maternity leave this week. We are so happy to have you back. A huge thanks to Mrs. Ann DiBiase for the terrific substituting during Mrs. Murphy’s leave.

Many thanks to Jess Soto for coordinating our first ever Cabin Fever party last Saturday. What a terrific (and delicious) event. Please join us this Saturday, February 4 for the PTA Pancake Breakfast at Applebees!

Next Monday is our rescheduled Elsmere Winter Concert which will be held at the Middle School, beginning at 7pm.

Whether you’re a Falcons fan, are rooting for the Patriots or just plan to enjoy time with the best team of all – your family-  I wish you a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Kate Kloss
