Dear Elsmere Families,

Did you know that next Friday is the 100th day of school this year? For our fifth graders, it is their 1,000th day since starting as a kindergartner. In celebration of the special day, Friday, February 15 will be a school spirit day – wear school apparel or orange and black!

If you have visited the school this month, you have likely seen the heartfelt hearts decorating our halls. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, our students wrote a special something about their younger or older buddy. Many thanks to Mrs. Baldwin for preparing all of these hearts for us! With a focus on the heart, everyone is invited to help with our nation’s campaign to end heart disease by wearing red and participating in the Hoops for Heart event on February 28 at 6pm in the Elsmere gym.

Congratulations to our fourth and fifth grade student musicians and their teachers Ms. Kosek, Ms. Vitale and Mrs. Van Voris on a wonderful winter concert, which was finally held this week. It was clear that much work had gone into these terrific performances.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you tomorrow morning at the PTA Applebee’s Breakfast in Glenmont from 8-10 am.

Enjoy a lovely weekend!

Kate Kloss
