Letter from Principal Kloss, Mar. 1

Filed in Elsmere by on March 1, 2019

Dear Elsmere Families,

March at Elsmere is all about the JOY OF READING! Throughout the month, we will be having special events to celebrate reading. This includes the Read for Ronald campaign, a special bulletin board of our favorite books, guest readers, an author visit, a gently used book sale and more. See the calendar below and several items coming home today with more information about all of these.

Many thanks to Mr. Ridgway, Mr. Valenti, many staff and the multitude of families who participated in the Kids Heart Challenge. Students seemed to have a lot of fun and Elsmere was able to make a sizable donation to the American Heart Society thanks to the generous donations and large participation.

March 5 at 6:30, Bethlehem Opportunities Unlimited will hold their annual community spelling bee at the High School. Everyone is invited to come cheer on the Elsmere Bumblebees as we buzz to viktery victory!

Next Friday is our Gently Used Book Sale at Elsmere, with children’s books being sold for 25 cents to $1.00. Please check your bookshelves and send in any gently used children’s books that, in the words of cleaning guru Marie Kondo, no longer bring you joy.

While we are happily moving toward spring, it is still quite chilly. Please remember to send your children in with warm winter gear. We go outside for recess every day unless the temperature feels below 10 with the wind chill or it is raining.

If you are in the mood for barbeque, the BCHS Lab School is hosting Brooks BBQ at the high school this Saturday, 3:30-6:30. Wishing you a most lovely weekend!

Sincerely,

Kate Kloss
