Letter from Principal Kloss, Mar. 24

Dear Elsmere Families,

On Monday, we thanked our transportation staff for their continued dedication to our students. Every day, these dedicated individuals insure that our children start and end their day safely. From a student’s thank you card: “I took your bus once when I was going to my friend’s house. You were really nice. Thank you for always getting my friends to school safe.”

Our Science Fair this week was terrific! Students presented a variety of interesting and unique projects that really got us thinking. Many thanks to Chris Follos and her team for making this opportunity available for our students and families.

New York State testing begins next week with all grade 3-8 students taking the English Language Arts assessments March 28-30 and Math assessments May 2-4. Like last year, this year’s assessments will be untimed.

A few special dates coming up: CAPER is on March 30 at 6pm, Bethlehem Recycles Day is April 8, and Earth Day events at Elsmere are April 12.

Local charity organization Mary’s Corner is again asking Elsmere families to consider donating your gently used baby and toddler clothing for those in need. Mary’s Corner helps to provide the basic necessities for Capital Region parents in need and has been extremely grateful for your generosity in the past. Donations may be dropped off in the office. Also, if you are looking for an opportunity for a fun family walk while raising funds for others in need, Grassroot Givers has invited us to participate in their walk-a-thon and guided tour in Albany on April 29: http://www.grassrootgivers.org/little-free-library-walkathon

Enjoy a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Kate
