Letter from Principal Kloss, Nov. 1

Filed in Elsmere by on November 1, 2019

Dear Elsmere Families,

Happy Halloween Recovery! I hope everyone had a wonderful week. If you find yourself with extra candy, feel free to send it in for our collection for a local charity.

The Elsmere Book fair began yesterday and will run through Monday with our Grand Lunch Event occurring on Monday. Students are welcome to invite a special friend or grandparent to school to enjoy lunch in the cafeteria and browse the book fair. Recess/lunch times are attached. Many thanks to Liz Cartagena and all the parent volunteers for running this great event.

Throughout November, all students are invited to participate in “Read for Ronald”, a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House. This organization provides housing and meals for families so that they are able to stay close to their hospitalized children. Information packets were sent home today along with reading calendars. Each student who turns in a completed November reading calendar will 1) Be a better reader and 2) Be able to select from a variety of awesome prizes such as:  a chance to run through the school halls, a tour of the Elsmere basement, an opportunity to do the announcements, a day of eating lunch in the teacher’s room and more. The highest earning class will win a field trip to the Ronald McDonald House in Albany. The fundraising portion is optional, but we hope every child will read!

In November, we are honoring American veterans near and far. We have a few Veteran’s Stars already, and would love to get more! Elsmere families are asked to invite special veterans in your lives to our school assembly on November 8 at 2:30. Students have been preparing for this assembly, so we would really like someone to honor! Please call the office at 518-439-4996 if your veteran will be able to attend.

Have a terrific weekend!
