Letter from Principal Kloss, Nov. 16

Filed in Elsmere by on November 16, 2018

Dear Elsmere Families,

Happy Winter! What a fun and beautiful blanket we have covering the ground. Please remember to send your child in with all the necessary snow gear so she/he can stay comfortable while playing outside at recess. Unless it is bitterly cold, children will have the opportunity to play outside every day!

Speaking of being prepared, our relocation drill a few weeks ago went very well. Students were calm and compliant as staff guided them in what to do in case of an emergency. For more information about our safety drills, click here.

A big thank you and congratulations to our fourth graders who recently presented at Five Rivers’ annual meeting and spoke about their field trip earlier this year. Elsmere students were specifically invited with the director saying “More than 220,000 children have connected with nature through GPS’s (Guided School Program) hands-on, inquiry-based lessons.  Your visit was noteworthy. Your students modeled great respect for the environment and for each other during their scientific investigation of the stream’s health.  I was especially taken by their ability to work collectively during each step of the scientific method.  They were enthusiastic, engaged learners who maturely collected specimens, discussed ideas, and formed conclusions.  This thoughtful approach leads me to believe that they will be the next stewards of the environment.”

Best of luck to our Girls on the Run team, led by Mrs. Mooney and Mrs. Barcomb, as they run their 5K this weekend. The girls have trained hard and had a great time together this season.

Dr. Randy Cale, a psychologist and parenting expert, will host an informative workshop for families where he will discuss strategies for managing technology. The event will take place on Wednesday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Eagle Elementary School.

We are getting ready to kick off the Bethlehem Central 2018-19 Caring and Sharing Program which prepares food boxes for those in need. To donate, please click here.  A sign up will soon be shared for those wishing to receive.

 Have a wonderful snowy day!

Sincerely,

Kate Kloss
