November 2, 2018

Dear Elsmere Families,

Happy November! Thanks to Lisa Cronlund and her team for making Halloween Happenings such a fun event for Elsmere families. Our next big PTA event is already underway: the Book Fair! Students are welcome to invite grandparents and special guests to enjoy lunch and the book fair on Monday, November 5. Please see the webpage for times. Thank you to Jenny Mash and Lauren Perrotto for organizing this event again!

Next Friday, November 9 will be our Veterans Day Assembly where we honor special veterans in our lives. Please invite a veteran you know and call the office to let us know who will be coming (518-439-4996). We are also asking families to decorate the stars sent home earlier for our Veterans Day bulletin board.

If you find you have extra Halloween candy, feel free to send it in by November 7 for our collection for the Capital City Rescue Mission. Thank you to fourth graders Ella, Ellie and Abby for organizing this! We are so proud of our students who demonstrate such generosity and leadership.

Last week was School Board Recognition Week in New York State. My own father served on my school’s BOE for many years, so I know personally what a challenging position this can be (and they don’t get paid!) Thank you to our Bethlehem Central Board of Education members for serving and devoting many hours to help students have a successful school experience:

  • Michael Cooper, President
  • Holly Dellenbaugh, Vice President
  • Willow Baer
  • Christine Beck
  • Jonathan Fishbein
  • Meredith Moriarty (Elsmere parent!)
  • Christian Myer

Finally, are you an Elsmere adult participating in No-Shave November, the month-long journey during which participants forgo shaving for a cause? If so, feel free to send us a “before” photo now for our special bulletin board:kkloss@bethlehemschools.org. Participants usually donate the money they typically would spend on shaving to cancer education and support.

Enjoy a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Kate Kloss
