Dear Elsmere Families,

Happy October! If you had a chance to look at our photos, you’ll see what a fun week we had. I hope the same is true for you.  A few special activities to look forward to next week.

Environmentalist George Steele will be visiting all classes courtesy of our wonderful PTA. Students in the past have enjoyed learning about recycling, animals and plants from this engaging, local expert. Wednesday is Walk to School Day. We typically have a large crowd of walkers, strolling the neighborhoods and out enjoying the fresh air. We hope you can join us. Next week is Homecoming Week at Bethlehem Central. Everyone can show their school spirit by donning BC colors (orange and black) or Elsmere spirit wear on Friday. Also on Fridayall kindergarten and first grade families are invited to our annual K/1 Pot Luck Dinner. Please see the flyer on the website or call the office for another copy of the flyer.

Almost all students have completed our fall iReady assessment to determine starting levels for instruction. Parents will soon be sent access to these evaluations as well as New York State scores from assessments taken last spring in graders 3-8.

Wishing you a wonderful long weekend as we have Monday off for Columbus Day.  In the spirit of exploration, an anonymous quote, “One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure.” Happy trails!

Sincerely,

Kate Kloss
