Letter from Principal Kloss, Oct. 19

Filed in Elsmere by on October 19, 2018

Dear families:

First, a big thank you to the Elsmere Fire Department for coming to our school this week, teaching important fire safety information in an engaging way. Now is a great time to review your fire safety plans with your children at home and check your smoke detectors. A special thanks goes out to Elsmere Fire Department parents who provide an important service to our community and took time to help students with this part of their education: Mrs. Bardin, Mr. Hotaling, Mr. Symmons, Mr. Peters, and Mr. Yates.

Our kindergarten through third grade students also enjoyed a visit this week with author, David Rottenberg, who shared his book Gwendolyn the Graceful Pig as it was performed by members of the Albany-Berkshire Ballet. Thank you to Jaimee Meyer for arranging this for our students!

Next Wednesday, October 24 at 9:30, we will be practicing our off-site evacuation plan with children. No student drop offs will be permitted between 9:20-10:15. Please plan accordingly so that your child will have this opportunity to practice in case of an emergency. Please look for a letter from our district office with more information.

Elsmere’s Halloween Happenings will be next Friday evening, 6-8! This has been such a fun event in the past and we hope to see you there. More information, including volunteer sign ups, can be found at

Thank you to Lisa Cronlund and her team!

If you are looking for something fun (but cold) to do this weekend, feel free to join me at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Washington Park Parade Grounds on Sunday at noon. Lots of vendors and activities!

Have a terrific weekend.
