Dear Elsmere Families,

We have had a terrific start to the 2017-18 school year and are looking forward to a wonderful year ahead.  Many thanks to our PTA, teachers and staff for helping to make this a smooth transition into school.

Elsmere PRIDE is already showing with kindnesses throughout the school.  Today, we gather at the first assembly of the year to hear from students about what PRIDE means to them. For our new families, Elsmere PRIDE is our special theme that encourages positive character traits every day in every situation: Personal Best, Respect and Responsibility, Integrity, Determination and Enthusiasm.

PTA has planned a host of great activities for the year, starting with Elsmere Rock’s Dessert Party tonight, September 15 at 6:00pm on the playground. At the event, children are invited to paint their own, unique rock to decorate the Elsmere grounds. Rocks and paint will be provided.

On Monday, September 18, BCSD is hosting a K-5 Activities Fair from 6:30-8:00 at the high school cafeteria. At least 30 groups will be present to share information about extracurricular activities for your elementary child.

Next Wednesday is Wear Purple Day at Elsmere. Everyone is invited to wear purple as we raise awareness of childhood cancer and the need for research in this area.

There is no school next Thursday, September September 21 in observation of Rosh Hashanah. Shana tovah to those celebrating.

Our Elsmere Garage Sale is back in a new form on September 23. Many thanks to Wendi Quidort and her team for organizing it. Please see previous mailings for more details including how you can help.

Have a wonderful weekend!
