Letter from Principal Kloss, Sept. 20

Filed in Elsmere by on September 20, 2019

Dear Elsmere Families,

Thank you for attending our Open House last week. It was great to see so many of you and we hope you enjoyed meeting our team and hearing about some things we have planned for the year. If you were unable to make it, please contact your child’s teacher to get the information shared.

Important safety reminder for our walkers and bike riders: remember to always stay with others, cross only at crosswalks, do not talk to strangers unless you are with an adult and never go with someone without your parents’ permission.

Many thanks to Andrew F. who has his Lego collection on display and Mrs. Baldwin who has lent us her Smurf collection for all to enjoy viewing. If your child has a collection to show off, please contact Mrs. Calaban for a date to display this in our hallway case.

As the cold weather approaches and you start pulling out those warmer clothes, please consider donating your children’s items that are in good condition but no longer fit. Local agency, Mary’s Corner, who helps children and families, is in dire need of girls’ clothing sizes infant – 4T and boys’ clothes 18 months – 4T. We have a collection bin in the hall for any and all donations.

It is with great pride we share an incredibly exciting upcoming event in our district! Greg Tang, Jr., math guru and enthusiast, will be facilitating a Family Math Night on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, in the Bethlehem Central High School Cafeteria.  Students in Elsmere will also be working through “Tangy” activities and challenges during an assembly on October 3. Our goal is to promote excitement for math while encouraging students to think critically and creatively.  We are hoping you will join us on this exceptional night to experience first hand what all the excitement is about. Please visit the Tang Math Website to learn more.

If you are considering attending this special night, please complete this form so we have an idea of how many families to expect. All forms should be completed by Friday, September 27th.  In keeping with the spirit of Family Math Night, children must be accompanied by an adult.

I have been a bit remiss in taking photos of your sweet children this month. Please enjoy these few pictures with a promise of more to come

If you have lost that flyer from your child’s backpack, please be reminded that these can all be accessed in our Virtual Backpack.

We are so fortunate to be able to spend our days with your wonderful children – their thoughts and dreams keep us thinking and dreaming. In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”. Here’s to many dreams fulfilled!

Sincerely,

Kate Kloss
