Dear Elsmere Families,

It is difficult to believe that we have finished the first month of school already! It has been a fun start. Next week, we will have several special “dress” days, so you might want to be sure to do the laundry this weekend.

Elsmere students are invited to join students across the district on Monday by wearing blue to demonstrate our solidarity against bullying. We are committed to making school a safe and enjoyable place for everyone and this is just one visible way to emphasize our pledge.

Next week, we also celebrate the contributions farmers make to our world through participating in the BC Farm to You Fest. Please see the flyer sent home today which includes details about our Dress Like a Farmer Day on Wednesday, a veggie collection all week, and the Farmers Market Scavenger Hunt on Saturday. Many thanks to Melissa Hurt and the Healthy Kids Committee for organizing this meaningful week.

Thursday will be a required Go Home Early drill with a 3:05 dismissal. All students are asked to ride the bus home that day to practice in case this option was ever needed. Please, no walkers, pick ups or bike riders for dismissal on Thursday, October 4.

One more dress up day! Picture Day is Friday, October 5. Information was sent home earlier. Please call the office if you did not receive this. Friday is also Elsmere Parents Night Out at the Normanside Country Club. Please see PTA information for this great event.

And finally, enjoy a few photos from the week! Check out the great playground markings made by our noon aides:

Enjoy a lovely weekend,

Kate Kloss
