Dear Parents,

It was quite a week here at Hamagrael.  A lot of activity and all of us here on the staff appreciate the efforts and generosity you, your children and the PTA put into making Teacher/Staff Appreciation week such a success.  We all feel fortunate to work in such a supportive school community and being partners with us in your child’s education. It truly makes a difference!

Our May PTA meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 16 has been changed.  The new date is Thursday, June 6. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in our library.

On Friday, May 17 we will hold our Spring “Turkey Trot”.  The races will begin at around 3:35 p.m. and will go off in the following order:

3:35 p.m. Kindergarten – ¼ mile

3:40 p.m. Grade 1 – ¼ mile

3:45 p.m. Grade 2 – ¼ mile

3:50 p.m. Grade 3 – ½ mile

3:55 p.m. Grade 4 – ¾ mile

4:00 p.m. Grade 5 – 1 mile

Instead of an entry fee all runners are asked to donate at least one nonperishable food item to be donated to a local food pantry.  Your child should have brought home a permission slip. If not, please let your child’s teacher know and we will get another one to you.

It is hard to believe that we are already planning for the 2019-20 school year.  Over the next few months we will begin creating class lists. Our goal is to place our students with a teacher in a classroom that is balanced and will support their learning and growth.  We use a variety of variables in the placement process including the following:

  • Academic mix
  • Personality and learning styles
  • Peer relationships
  • Class size
  • Special needs

If you have any information that you would like to share with me about your child, please send me an email at or send in a letter to the main office.  My only request is that you do not request a specific teacher as with 325 students to place along with the variability mentioned above it would be impossible.  Please send any information to me by Monday, June 10.

Happy Mother’s Day weekend!

“To the world you are a Mother, but to your family you are the World!”

Enjoy the weekend.
