Letter from Principal Ksanznak, May 23

Filed in Hamagrael by on May 23, 2019

Dear Parents,

On Tuesday, May 21 district residents passed the school budget for the 2019-20 school year.  The two open Board of Education seats will be filled by Wendy Samson and Jonathan Fishbein.  You can find all of the information about the budget on our district website.

On Wednesday, May 29 we have our annual Hamagrael Art Show and Ice Cream Social from 5pm-7pm here at school.  Each student will have a piece of work on display, there will be a scavenger hunt for the students to compete, live music and, of course, delicious ice cream to eat while you view the artwork.  Thanks to our PTA, our coordinators Molly Philipp and Janice Wetherbee, the BCSD Art Department and Ms. Traci Fortin for all of their efforts organizing this for our school community.

On Friday, May 31 our 5th graders will be heading to the Town Park to participate in the BCSD “Survivor Games” with other fifth graders across the district.  This is always a fun event that the kids look forward to.

Hamagrael Elementary will host an elite runner as part of the Freihofer’s Race for Women Athlete Visitation program.  Elite runner Carmen Troncoso will be here on Friday, May 31 to talk with some of our students about running and setting goals.  The Freihofer’s Race for Women will take place on Saturday, June 1 in Albany.

Over the next month we will begin creating class lists for the 2019-20 school year.  Our goal is to place students here at Hamagrael with a teacher in a classroom that is balanced and will support their learning and growth.  We use a variety of variables in the placement process including the following:

  • Academic mix
  • Personality and learning style
  • Peer relationships
  • Class size
  • Special needs

If you have any information that you would like to share with me about your child, please send me an email at dksanznak@bethlehemschools.org or send in a letter to the main office.  My only request is that you do not request a specific teacher.  Please send any information to me by June 10.

Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing many of you at the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27.

Sincerely,

Dave Ksanznak
