Letter from Principal Ksanznak, Apr. 18

Filed in Hamagrael by on April 18, 2019

Dear Parents,

Our Spring Break begins tomorrow, Friday, April 19 and will continue through Sunday, April 28.  All Bethlehem Central Schools will be back in session on Monday, April 29.  When we return to school on the 29th we will implement the new district-wide identification system called Raptor Visitor Management.  With this system visitors are required to present a valid driver’s license or government issued ID when entering our schools.  The system is intended to enhance our security system and it has been in operation since February at our high school, middle school and Glenmont Elementary.  All other Bethlehem schools will use the system on Monday, the 29th.  Our Superintendent of Schools Ms. Jody Monroe sent out information about the new system on Tuesday, April 18 to all parents.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

On Wednesday, May 1 and Thursday, May 2 our students in grades 3-5 will be taking the New York State Assessments in Math.  Our students will answer both multiple choice and open-ended questions to demonstrate their understanding of the math standards.  We use the results to look for areas that we can improve on as well as areas of strength in our K-5 math program.

The Bethlehem Healthy Kids Committee, a parent group that sponsors activities and events focused student nutrition, health and wellness, will host a Sleep Health Symposium on Thursday, May 2 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Central Middle School in the LMC. The event is free. Questions? Contact the Bethlehem Healthy Kids Committee at bethlehemhealthykids@gmail.com

The next few months are quite busy here at Hamagrael.  Please check our website each week to see what has been planned for our school community.

Administrator Professionals Day is celebrated across the country on Wednesday, April 24.  I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Jeanette Machlowski, Sue Doherty and Nancy Brooks as they are so dedicated in their work to help keep our school running smoothly each day and for always going above and beyond to help our students.  Thanks for all you do for us, Jeanette, Sue and Nancy!

Have a wonderful Spring Break!

Sincerely,

Dave Ksanznak
