Dear Parents,

Next week we have our Hamagrael Elementary School Family Math & Science Nights for students in grades 1-5 and their parents.  The program consists of a series of hands-on, fun-filled math and science activities for children and their parents to explore and learn together.  Each grade level has two nights assigned to them:

            Grade 1                        1/9 & 1/10

            Grade 2                        1/9 & 1/10

            Grade 3                        1/9 & 1/11

            Grade 4                        1/10 & 1/11

            Grade 5                        1/10 & 1/11

The program takes place in our auditorium and is held from 6:30-8pm.  Thanks to our PTA for sponsoring the program for us and to our coordinators Drey Martone and Sarah Genovese for all of their efforts coordinating the program for us.

Over the next two weeks, January 8-10 all of our Hamagrael students will be taking the i-Ready Diagnostic which is an adaptive online assessment tool for reading and in math.  This assessment is designed to be engaging for students and will help us assess the individual needs of each child and help plan instruction.  You can find more information about the assessment as well as an overview of the parent night presentations in October on our district website.  You can use the search for “i-Ready Assessments”.

This month our “Reading for Ronald McDonald House” program began.  Your child should have brought home an information packet last month that provides information about how to sign up.  If you would like another form, please feel free to contact us here at school.  Thanks to our PTA and our coordinators, Kathy O’Meara and Mrs. Held, for their help with this program.

Our middle school is one of 150 semi-finalists completing for a $25,000 grant from Project Fit America for new fitness equipment.  You can help them win by casting a vote each day between January 5-31.  You can find the link to vote on our BCSD website.

The BCMS production of Peter Pan Jr. features many of our former Hamagrael students.  The show runs from January 25-28 and you can purchase tickets on the following dates at our middle school and also beginning 1 ½ hours prior to each performance.

  • 1/16 11am-1pm
  • 1/17 3-6pm
  • 1/20 10am-12pm

The performances are on the following dates and times:

  • 1/25 7pm
  • 1/26 7pm
  • 1/27 2pm & 7pm
  • 1/28 2pm

We have had some cold, snowy weather recently and as a reminder we send the children out for recess unless the temperature is 10° or below with the wind chill or if it is too icy outside.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Dave Ksanznak
