Dear Parents,

Due to the snow this week our Hamagrael Science Fair and Summer Camp Fair will now be held on Wednesday, March 22 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. here at school.  This is always a fun evening as our student scientists come up with some very creative projects.  The summer camp fair will be in our front foyer.  You will be able to learn about summer programs in the Capital Region available to your child.

Our 5th choir concert will be held on Tuesday, March 21 in our auditorium.  We will have a 2:15 p.m. performance and an evening show at 7:00 p.m.  Thanks to Mrs. Guyon and her 5th grade choir students for their efforts preparing for the show.  I have had the opportunity to view a few rehearsals and it looks like it will be a wonderful show.

Our Spring picture day is set for the 22nd.  If you would like your child to have their pictures taken please return the picture packet and payment on the 22nd.  Thanks to Martina Pokabla, Katie Bush and Yayoi Miyajima for organizing this for us.

This year’s annual BCCF March Madness and Wacky Olympics will be held on Friday, March 24.  Teams of staff members representing each elementary school will participate in a series of wacky relays.  This event will take place at our high school.  The doors will open at 5:30 p.m.  The cost is $3 for children in grades K-5, $5 for students in grades 6-12 and adults.  Preschool age children are free.

The New York State Grades 3-5 ELA Exams will take place on March 28, 29 and 30.  The children take the assessments in the morning and we just ask them to give their best effort.  This is only one type of assessment we use to help plan instruction and see where students are academically.

Congratulations to Miriam Nester, Levi Loe-Alinger, Riley O’Meara and Kiera Murphy as their Odyssey of the Mind Team is moving to the New York State Championships in Binghamton in April!  Great news and all the best at the state competition.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Dave Ksanznak
