Letter from Principal Ksanznak, Nov. 17

Filed in Hamagrael by on November 17, 2017

Dear Parents,

The Bethlehem Central School District Green Team has once again partnered with the Town of Bethlehem and the Delmar Farmers Market to hold the town’s Fourth Annual America Recycles Day Collection Event tomorrow, Saturday, November 18 from 10am-1pm at our middle school.  You can find more information about this event on our district website.

Our character education theme for the month of November is “Thankfulness”.  On Monday morning our 4th graders will be hosting our monthly character education assembly focusing on our theme for the month.

If you ordered a Thanksgiving pie from our 9th Annual Thanksgiving Pie Sale, you can pick up your order in our front lobby on Tuesday, November 21 between the hours of 3:15pm-6pm.  Thanks to Kate Gaffney for all of her efforts coordinating this event for us.

In the spring of 2017, a focus group was formed to study the use and impact of homework at the elementary (K-5) level. The group is comprised of teachers, principals, and central administrators. The group reviewed journal articles and research on the subject (Visit to access the materials) and had very meaningful discussions. The next phase of the review process involves surveying parents. As such, we are asking that you complete a homework survey (Visit to take the survey) by Friday, December 1st. Thank you for your continued support.

All Bethlehem Central Schools will be closed from November 22-26 for Thanksgiving break.  Schools will be back in session on Monday, November 27.

Our famous Hamagrael Elementary Craft Fair will be here soon!  Please mark your calendar and spread the word about this popular event which is scheduled for Saturday, December 2 from 10am-4pm here at school.  More details to follow.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Dave Ksanznak
