Letter from Principal Ksanznak, Sept. 22

Filed in Hamagrael by on September 22, 2017

Dear Parents,

It has been a great week here at school and as I visit the classrooms, cafeteria and outside during recess it is nice to see how well the kids are doing both academically and socially.  Hopefully we can keep the enthusiasm going!

On Monday, September 25 we have our Hamagrael School picture day.  All of the teachers have signed up for a time to have individual pictures and class pictures taken.  Thanks so much to our coordinators Yayoi Miyajima and Jackey Jacob for all of their help organizing the picture day program for us.

We have our first Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting for the 2017-2018 school year on Thursday, September 28 beginning at 7pm in the library.

Our annual “Walk to School Day” has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 4. There will be more information coming out about this event soon.  This is always quite popular and a great way to start the day.  Thanks to Maureen Cunningham and Krista Applebee for their work coordinating this for us.

The Bethlehem Central School District will be participating in a yearlong “Food Donation Drive” to help families in and around our area.  Each month a school in our district will host a food drive with each grade level having a suggested item(s) to donate.  Our month to host is October.  Here is our suggested list for each grade level:

  • Kindergarten: Boxes of cereal (individual servings); Boxes of instant oatmeal
  • First Grade: Canned goods-fruits/vegetables
  • Second Grade: Pasta, macaroni dinners, macaroni and cheese
  • Third Grade: Peanut butter, jelly, juice boxes
  • Fourth Grade: Snacks – granola bars, microwave popcorn, pudding cups, graham crackers, individual goldfish crackers
  • Fifth Grade: Canned goods:  tuna, soup, chili, stew

We will have boxes set up in the main hallways.

Today your child will be bringing home a Hamagrael Elementary Spirit Wear order form.  Thanks to Cara Bashant for her work in putting this together for us.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Dave Ksanznak
