Letter from Principal Ksanznak, Sept. 29

Filed in Hamagrael by on September 29, 2017

Dear Parents,

We have a few exciting events taking place here at Hamagrael the week of October 2-6.  All week we will celebrate “Farm to You Fest” which is a statewide celebration of local farms and food.  Here are some of the ways our students can participate:

-Squash Hunger Fruit and Vegetable Drive – children can bring in fresh produce to

donate to the “Squash Hunger” program.

-Farmers Market Scavenger Hunt – visit any local farmers market with the checklist

from our district website and turn in the form to our main office by October 11.

We will hold a raffle drawing using the sheets that have been turned in.

-Try school lunch –  We have a special menu planned for the week.

-Pack a fresh snack –   Have your child bring in a healthy snack from a local farm.

Thanks to Erin LaDue and Jess Lafata for their efforts in coordinating this program for us.

Hamagrael Elementary will join children and adults around the world to celebrate the benefits of walking as we will be participating in the annual “Walk to School Day” program on Wednesday, October 4. Walk to school stops on the day will be at Winne Rd./ Center Ln. at 8:45 am, Winne Rd./Jordan Blvd. at 8:50 am and Alburn Rd./Wisconsin Ave. at 8:55 am for those who would like to join us.  Greeters will be here at school to distribute stickers and goodies for kids who walk or ride their bikes to school on the 4th.  Thanks to Maureen Cunningham and Krista Applebee for their efforts in helping make this event run so smoothly.

During the month of October Hamagrael will host a “Food Donation Drive” to help eliminate food insecurity and hunger for children and adults in our area.  Each grade level has a suggested list of items which you will find on a flyer that your child will be bringing home today.  As always, thanks so much for your generosity.

Remember all Hamagrael Spirit Wear forms are due back on October 6.

New York State requires all school districts to hold an annual “Go Home Early” drill to ensure that students and staff know what to do in case an emergency requires school grounds to be cleared and students to be transported home or to another location.

The Bethlehem Central School District will conduct this drill on Friday, October 6, 2017.

All schools will dismiss 15 minutes earlier than their regular dismissal that day and there will be no late buses for the Middle School and High School.  Students who walk or ride a bicycle to school are required to take the bus home on the day of the drill.  We ask parents not to pick their child up on this day, unless it is for an appointment.

Our students here at Hamagrael have plenty of exciting learning opportunities each day.  To see some of these activities please check out our twitter account @Hamagrael as I try to send out updates each week.

Have a wonderful weekend.
