Dear Parents,

In light of the recent shootings in Florida, I wanted to reach out to let you know that we take safety very seriously at Eagle.  Whenever I meet with the children I tell them my most important job as a principal is to keep them safe.  As a building, we reviewed our safety procedures Thursday morning to ensure and clarify questions and concerns.  Please know that your children are our children and their safety is our first priority.  We will need to do one more lockdown drill in March, but I plan on waiting until mid-month to do it.

We had a great Valentine’s Day at Eagle on Wednesday.  How can you work at an elementary school on Valentine’s Day and not be happy!?  I had a special treat, our very Mike DeAngelis, a BCSD PE teacher who recently retired, set up in the lobby as a surprise.  As the staff and students arrived he serenaded them with beautiful songs.  Here is a link to pictures and a video!  Thank you Mike!  It made my day.

Our word of the week this week was covet.  Thus far we have had imperative, emulate and covet.  Over vacation try to insert these words into conversation to see if your children notice.  I was in a kindergarten class this week and they used the word imperative – how impressive! (ooh – that’s a good word to add!)

Have a great February vacation,

Dianna
