Looking for a new job?

Filed in Archive by on February 10, 2021

It’s 2021 and things are finally looking up. Now is a great time to start a career (or maybe a second career) with the Bethlehem Central School District.

The district is hiring bus drivers and bus attendants. Qualified applicants begin in substitute driver or attendant positions that often turn into permanent positions as openings become available.

Substitute positions include NYS Employees’ Retirement System benefits. Positions that become permanent positions also include guaranteed hours and health benefits.

Bus drivers and attendants typically work in the morning and the afternoon with a long break in between. BC bus drivers and attendants can count on weekends, evenings and summers off as well school holidays and breaks.

Drivers in Bethlehem begin at a rate of $18.86 an hour with paid training for successful applicants. The starting rate for bus attendants is $12.50 an hour.

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and may be requested by emailing Kristin Hunter at or by calling (518) 439-3830.

Please note that New York State Law requires all district employees, including substitute support staff, to be fingerprinted as a condition of employment. Procedures and policies regarding fingerprinting will be provided upon your employment.

Driver applicants do not need a commercial license to apply. Prospective drivers need to be 21 years of age with a clean driving record. Driving a school bus requires a commercial driver’s license, but applicants DO NOT need a commercial driver’s license to test drive a bus or to apply for a driver position.

Prospective bus attendants must be at least 19 years old.

The Bethlehem Central School District, which is located adjacent to the city of Albany, encompasses most of the town of Bethlehem and some of the town of New Scotland. Spread over approximately 52 square miles, the district serves 4,200 students.
