Update Mar. 31: Schedule clarification for April

Filed in Archive, District, District News by on March 31, 2020

The following is a message from Superintendent Jody Monroe:

Dear BC family,

When Governor Andrew Cuomo issued the executive order that closed schools until at least April 15 to slow the spread of COVID-19, the order required schools to provide continuity of instruction, meals for children and childcare resources every weekday during the school closure. This period of time includes days that were originally part of the district’s scheduled spring break.

The executive order means the district will continue to provide these services to students and families Monday-Friday through Tuesday, April 14 including those days that had previously been scheduled as days off. If the school closure is extended beyond that date, the district will continue to follow the directives of the governor.

Any return to our school buildings would be determined by order of the governor and with the guidance of state and local health officials.

During the closure, please visit our website for the following important information:

It is important that the district has accurate contact information for families of our students during the extended closure. Teachers who need to reach parents and guardians use the information stored in Aspen. The district also uses the information stored in Aspen to reach families with its School Messenger system. Please take a few minutes to review your contact information in Aspen and update as needed.

We recognize that this is a stressful and challenging situation for all. We are here to support you through it, and know that you are managing many personal and professional responsibilities. Patience, understanding and empathy are top priorities for everyone in the district right now. We will get through this difficult time together.

Thank you all for your continued patience, understanding and support.

Sincerely,

Jody Monroe

Superintendent
