Q1 grade deadline extended; report cards to be released Nov. 23

Filed in BCHS, BCMS by on November 12, 2020

A message for MS/HS families from Dave Hurst, Assistant Superintendent for Educational Programs & Instruction:

Over the last several days, we hosted three Q & A sessions for parents to help us better understand how students and families have been adjusting to a return to school under challenging circumstances. During those sessions, we sought to reassure families that while the district has returned to a more formal style of grading at the secondary level, flexibility and empathy are still important elements of teaching and learning, especially in a COVID environment. Still, we heard several concerns that for some students in grades 7-12 the adjustment to hybrid learning continues to be a difficult one.

To help meet the needs of our middle and high school students, the district is extending the grading deadline for the first quarter to Monday, Nov. 23. Students who are missing work should reach out to their teachers as soon as possible to discuss class-specific opportunities and/or deadlines for submitting their Q1 assignments. Parents should look for first-quarter report cards to be posted to Aspen late in the day on Monday, Nov. 23.
