No safety issue in brief lockout held at Glenmont

Filed in Archive by on November 3, 2016

Glenmont Elementary School was in “lockout” this afternoon from 12:59 p.m. to 1:03 p.m. as the Bethlehem Police Department investigated a report from an employee of three gunshot sounds in the area of the school (not on school property). Two marked and two unmarked police cars responded to the school and determined that a motorcycle nearby had backfired, causing the sounds.

A lockout secures the outer perimeter of the building. In a lockout, there is no classroom disruption and the day for students continues uninterrupted. Students and staff review safety protocols and practice emergency drills regularly.
