No safety issues in lockout at Slingerlands, Jan. 16

Slingerlands Elementary School was in a precautionary lockout this afternoon, Weds., Jan. 17, after someone in the area of the school notified police after hearing what sounded like gunshots. The Bethlehem Police Department responded immediately, surveyed nearby areas and determined the noises were not gunshots.

The lockout lasted approximately 36 minutes. A lockout secures the outer perimeter of the building. There is no classroom disruption. Students who are outdoors are brought inside. All exterior doors are locked and windows are closed and locked.
